Burns Supper Extra Credit

For the Robert Burns supper, I made scottish oat scones. In a bowl I mixed flour, traditional oats, sugar, baking powder, and salt. I cut butter and added the pieces to the bowl, then combined in dried cranberries--the recipe can include currents or dried blueberries, but I chose dried cranberries because I felt the flavor would suit the scone the best. I gingerly mixed in milk and eggs into the mixture, and once it formed a dough, I flattened in onto the counter and formed it into a thick circle. I then cut wedges out of the dough, and placed them on a greased baking sheet and baked them in the oven for around fifteen minutes. The scones were very good with a good contrast of flavor. The Burns party was very enthusiastic and fun and I really enjoyed participating!!
